Chris Bosh, 28, Basketball
Bosh, a Texas native, played basketball for Georgia Tech for one season before entering the NBA draft and being selected by the Toronto Raptors. He won a gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is a five-time NBA All-Star. Bosh currently plays for the Miami Heat.

Chris Colwill, 27, Diving
Colwill grew up in Florida and attended the University of Georgia; he still lives and trains in Athens. Born with 40 percent of his hearing, Colwill cannot hear the starting whistle and must rely on the referee to nod to tell him when to dive. That did not prevent him from placing fourth in synchronized diving at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and winning the 3m dive at the 2012 U.S. Winter Nationals.

Benn Fraker, 23, Canoe/Kayak
Fraker was born in Rome and grew up in Peachtree City. He placed sixth in the Slalom Canoe event in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Fraker is the 2011 Men's Canoe National Champion.

Jonathan Hall, 24, Shooting
Hall was born and raised in Carrollton, not far from Columbus State University, where he is a business student. After placing third in the 2008 Olympic trials and missing his chance to go to Beijing, Hall won the 2010 NCAA Individual Air Rifle National Championship, posting the highest-ever score in the competition's history. He also won a silver medal for Men's 10m Air Rifle in the 2011 Pan American Games.

Vincent Hancock, 23, Shooting
Hancock is an Eatonton native who became an Olympic gold medalist at age 19, after placing first in skeet shooting at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He became a world champion at age 16 and was named USA Shooting's Male Athlete of the Year in 2005.

Kathleen Hersey, 22, Swimming
Hersey was born in Athens and grew up in Atlanta. She placed eighth in the 200m butterfly at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Hersey attends and swims for the University of Texas at Austin. Friends and teammates tease her, saying that turning her feet in while swimming the butterfly stroke has made her permanently pigeon-toed.

Reese Hoffa, 34, Track & Field
Hoffa was born in Evans, near Augusta, and attended the University of Georgia; he still lives and trains in Athens. He is among the three best shot putters in the world and was named the 2007 World Outdoor champion. The 2012 London Olympics will be his third Olympics; he did not medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics, although he earned a personal best of 72 feet, 6.25 inches at the 2008 Olympic Trials.

Tim Hornsby, 25, Canoe/Kayak
Hornsby (center), an Atlanta native, attended Lakeside High School in DeKalb County before moving west to enroll in the University of California, San Diego. He qualified for the World Junior Championships at age 17 and was a training partner in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Eric Hurd, 26, Canoe/Kayak
Hurd is from Woodstock, but trains in Charlotte, N.C. He and teammate Jeff Larimer won the gold medal at the 2012 Pan American Championships. After narrowly missing a spot in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Hurd took a job at the U.S. National Whitewater Center and continued to train for the 2012 London Olympics.

John Isner, 27, Tennis
Isner, who grew up in North Carolina and attended the University of Georgia, is famous for being 6-feet-9-inches tall. He is also known for beating Nicolas Mahut in the longest tennis match in history: 11 hours and five minutes over the course of three days during the 2010 Wimbledon Championships. The 2012 London Olympics will be Isner's first Olympics.

Kibwe Johnson, 30, Track & Field
Johnson, a graduate of Suwanee's North Gwinnett High School, attended the University of Georgia before transferring to Ohio's Ashland University. He missed his chance to attend the 2004 Athens Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics, but won the gold medal for the hammer throw at the 2011 Pan American Games. Johnson lives and trains in Canada with his wife, fellow thrower Crystal Smith-Johnson.

Jeff Larimer, 30, Canoe/Kayak
Larimer is from Marietta and earned a silver medal at the 2011 national championship. He and teammate Eric Hurd took the top prize at the 2012 Pan American Championships, which secured their spots for the 2012 London Olympics. When he's not paddling, Larimer works as a carpenter.

Chaunté Howard Lowe, 28, Track & Field
Lowe is a California native who moved to Decatur to attend Georgia Tech. The 2012 London Olympics will be her third Olympics; she placed sixth in the high jump during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Lowe set an American high jump record of 2.05m in 2010. She married fellow high-jumper Mario Lowe in 2006.

Angel McCoughtry, 25, Basketball
McCoughtry grew up in Baltimore and currently plays for the Atlanta Dream. She played for Team USA in the 2007 Pan American Games and attended the University of Louisville, where she led the women's basketball team to its first Final Four in school history in 2009. The 2012 London Olympics will be McCoughtry's first Olympics.

Maya Moore, 23, Basketball
Moore grew up in Lawrenceville and attended Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, where she was a two-time winner of the Naismith Trophy as the nation's most outstanding female high school basketball player. While attending the University of Connecticut, Moore led the women's basketball team to a national championship in 2009. She now plays for the Minnesota Lynx; the 2012 London Olympics will be her first Olympics.

Kelley O'Hara, 23, Soccer
O'Hara was born in Florida, but calls Fayetteville home. She attended Stanford University, where she won the 2009 Hermann Trophy as the top female college soccer player in the country. She played for the FC Gold Pride and the Boston Breakers before signing with the Atlanta Beat in early 2012. The 2012 London Olympics will be O'Hara's first Olympics.

Dwight Phillips, 34, Track & Field
Phillips was born in Decatur and grew up in Tucker; he currently calls Snellville home. After winning the gold medal for long jump at the 2004 Athens Olympics, Phillips missed qualifying for the 2008 Beijing Olympics by one inch. Since then, he has won two world championships and hopes to make a comeback in the 2012 London Olympics.

Allison Schmitt, 22, Swimming
Schmitt, who grew up in Michigan, attends and swims for the University of Georgia. She won silver and bronze medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and reclaimed her spot on Team USA for the 2012 London Olympics after winning the 400m freestyle at the U.S. Olympic trials.

Eric Shanteau, 28, Swimming
Shanteau, a graduate of Lilburn's Parkview High School, swam for Auburn University, where he won 11 All-American honors. He barely missed out on the 2004 Athens Olympics and, one week before heading to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Shanteau has since made a full recovery and hopes to bring home an Olympic medal this year.
