Fraker was born in Rome and grew up in Peachtree City. He placed sixth in the Slalom Canoe event in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Fraker is the 2011 Men's Canoe National Champion.

Hancock is an Eatonton native who became an Olympic gold medalist at age 19, after placing first in skeet shooting at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He became a world champion at age 16 and was named USA Shooting's Male Athlete of the Year in 2005.

Hoffa was born in Evans, near Augusta, and attended the University of Georgia; he still lives and trains in Athens. He is among the three best shot putters in the world and was named the 2007 World Outdoor champion. The 2012 London Olympics will be his third Olympics; he did not medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics, although he earned a personal best of 72 feet, 6.25 inches at the 2008 Olympic Trials.

Hurd is from Woodstock, but trains in Charlotte, N.C. He and teammate Jeff Larimer won the gold medal at the 2012 Pan American Championships. After narrowly missing a spot in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Hurd took a job at the U.S. National Whitewater Center and continued to train for the 2012 London Olympics.

Johnson, a graduate of Suwanee's North Gwinnett High School, attended the University of Georgia before transferring to Ohio's Ashland University. He missed his chance to attend the 2004 Athens Olympics and 2008 Beijing Olympics, but won the gold medal for the hammer throw at the 2011 Pan American Games. Johnson lives and trains in Canada with his wife, fellow thrower Crystal Smith-Johnson.

Lowe is a California native who moved to Decatur to attend Georgia Tech. The 2012 London Olympics will be her third Olympics; she placed sixth in the high jump during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Lowe set an American high jump record of 2.05m in 2010. She married fellow high-jumper Mario Lowe in 2006.

Moore grew up in Lawrenceville and attended Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, where she was a two-time winner of the Naismith Trophy as the nation's most outstanding female high school basketball player. While attending the University of Connecticut, Moore led the women's basketball team to a national championship in 2009. She now plays for the Minnesota Lynx; the 2012 London Olympics will be her first Olympics.

Phillips was born in Decatur and grew up in Tucker; he currently calls Snellville home. After winning the gold medal for long jump at the 2004 Athens Olympics, Phillips missed qualifying for the 2008 Beijing Olympics by one inch. Since then, he has won two world championships and hopes to make a comeback in the 2012 London Olympics.

Shanteau, a graduate of Lilburn's Parkview High School, swam for Auburn University, where he won 11 All-American honors. He barely missed out on the 2004 Athens Olympics and, one week before heading to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Shanteau has since made a full recovery and hopes to bring home an Olympic medal this year.
