ATLANTA, July 10, 2011 – If you’re reading this, you should get to your favorite park – STAT! Coca-Cola is calling all families to go out and play this summer as part of the second annual America Is Your Park campaign.

Tourism spending up in Georgia

ATLANTA -- Gov. Nathan Deal says domestic and international visitors spent $21 billion in Georgia in 2010.

The U.S. Travel Association says that's up 8.3 percent from 2009.

The increase in visitor spending contributed $1.56 billion in state and local tax revenue to Georgia.

Deal said that in a challenging economic climate, tourism has been a source of strength for the state.

More than 233,800 jobs in Georgia are directly attributed to the tourism industry, accounting for $6.8 billion in payroll in 2010.

The U.S. Department of Commerce reported the number of international travelers to Georgia increased 19 percent in 2010, with expenditures up by 15 percent to $2.1 billion.

Berry to host Young Alumni Night at Braves game

Berry to host Young Alumni Night at Braves game

ROME, Ga. -- Berry College will offer a Young Alumni Night at an Atlanta Braves game Thursday, June 16.

Alumni and their spouses or guests are invited to join members of the Berry athletics staff as the Braves take on the New York Mets. Game time is 7:10 p.m. at Turner Field, with the Berry group seated in the Golden Moon Casino area.

Tickets are $30 per person, a price that offers $10 added value for any purchases, such as food and Braves merchandise. A $40 ticket also includes a parking pass.

Transportation from Berry will be available for North Georgia residents.

ACWORTH– For this week’s installment of Best Spots, we've compiled a list of the best golf courses in for you to take a break and tee it off while the weather is nice.

The Cobblestone Golf Course is known as one of the best golf courses in Cobb County. The course, which is located in Acworth opened in 1993 and has won a number of awards for its great layout and 4 star rating by Golf Digest. This course is also rated among the Top 100 Golf Courses in the United States by Golf Magazine.

The course was recently renovated and restored back to “optimal playing condition”. It was also featured on The Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive”. The course has brand new Bermuda greens and new bunkers. The course offers seven holes running along Lake Acworth and favorable views, mounding and layouts.

Games at this course range from $24 to $60 and include carts. This course is pretty flexible.
