4 Berry students named Gates Millennium Scholars | Schools
ROME, Ga. -- Four Berry College students have been named Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholars.
Autumn Folse, Monica Maldonado, Rachel Rogers and Jeffery Ramos earned the prestigious honor, which is given to only 1,000 college students across the country every year.
"Gates Millennium has given me the opportunity to pursue my goals and to live my dream without having to overcome financial obstacles," Rogers said in a statement. "I can actually attend any college and strive for any degree I want with absolute freedom. That's the greatest feeling in the world."
The Gates Millennium Scholarship is a full scholarship to any college or university in the U.S. It promotes academic excellence among some of the nation's most promising young minorities who face academic burdens that might otherwise prevent them from pursuing a college education.
