West Central Elementary School was named a Subgroup Alert School, the Georgia Department of Education announced Thursday. Subgroup Alert Schools are elementary and middle schools where the subgroup performance on a statewide assessment falls at or below the third deviation compared to the subgroup's state average.
Alert Schools rankings are a component of the No Child Left Behind Act. Georgia was one of 10 states to receive a NCLB waiver from President Obama earlier this year; the waiver has not yet taken effect.
