Berry junior earns Goldwater Scholarship | People
ROME, Ga. -- A student at Berry College is the latest recipient of the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship for his work in physics and mathematics.
Junior Aaron Ostrander is majoring in physics and math at Berry. The LaGrange, Ga. native has already conducted plenty of undergraduate research and hopes to someday pursue a doctoral degree.
Berry math professor Eric McDowell said Ostrander's "application was markedly strengthened by the fact that he has already done scientific research and has established a research agenda."
The Goldwater Scholarship, named for U.S. Senator Barry M. Goldwater, was established in 1986 to promote research in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering and math). It is considered the most prestigious undergraduate award in the STEM disciplines.
