ROME, Ga. -- Berry College student Megan Walton received the Gilman International Scholarship, which allows her to spend this semester studying in Australia.
The Wyoming, Del. resident is currently studying animal science at Murdoch University in Perth. She has taken courses is pathology and animal disease production, marine biology and environmental restoration, with the hope of someday going to veterinary school.
"I think this experience is going to go far in teaching me not only about myself but also to become a global citizen in a true sense," Walton said.
The Gilman International Scholarship is a competitive funding program that pays for tuition, room and board, books, local transporation, insurance and airfare for American college students to study abroad.
Walton will speak to Berry's Introduction of Animal Science class about her experience in the Land Down Under when she returns to Rome for her senior year in the fall.
