FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – Police are searching for an inmate who walked away from a work detail in Floyd County on Thursday.

According to Jerome Poole of the Floyd County Police Department, Garrett Terrell Shields was last seen on Sproull Road near Trimble Way off of Kingston Highway around 5 p.m.

The 44-year-old man was wearing white shirt and pants with one blue stripe on pants and blue collar on shirt along with an orange sweatshirt and orange toboggan.

Shields is in the second year of a 20-year sentence for several violent felonies, Poole said.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911. Authorities say do not approach him.
