Wings Over North Georgia Air Show to debut in Rome | Events
ROME, Ga. -- Another world-class aviation event is coming to north Georgia.
The inaugural Wings Over North Georgia Air Show will be held at Rome's Richard B. Russell Regional Airport next September, joining Peachtree City's Great Georgia Airshow and Marietta's Wings Over Atlanta.
Wings Over North Georgia officials announced Monday that the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Demonstration Team will headline the first show. In their nine distinctive red and white jets, the Snowbirds serve as Canadian Forces ambassadors and demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, excellence, discipline and dedication.
The Snowbirds are known around the world for their precision aerobatics consisting of more than 50 different formations and maneuvers. They are one of only three North American military jet teams, and they make very few appearances in the United States.
"We are thrilled to be able to bring an amazing event like this to northern Georgia," said Rob Skelton, director of Wings Over North Georgia. "To secure a major international jet team like the Snowbirds in our first year really says something about what the air show industry expects from this new show."
Other features of the first-ever Wings Over North Georgia event include a car show, barbeque cook-off and plenty of family-friendly fare.
