Dad accused of tattooing toddler sentenced

ROME, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say a northwest Georgia father accused of tattooing his toddler has been sentenced to 12 months of probation and a $300 fine.

The Rome News-Tribune reports that 26-year-old Eugene Ashley was arrested in 2009 after a Georgia Department of Family and Child Services worker saw "DB" tattooed on the child's shoulder.

Floyd County District Attorney Leigh Patterson said the boy was three when the worker noticed the tattoo.

Authorities say DB stood for "Daddy's Boy."

Officials say Ashley pleaded guilty Monday, Apr. 4 to tattooing a child under the age of 18 and was given the probation sentence. His attorney could not immediately be reached late Monday.
