Rome Beer Festival to Pour Funds into the Arts

ROME, GA -- The third annual Rome Beer Festival will be held Sept. 18 at Heritage Park in Rome, Georgia as a fundraiser for the Rome Area Council for the Arts. The event will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will feature over 50 beers for sampling.

"This is a great opportunity to sample beers not commonly seen in Rome's restaurants and retailers," said event organizer Scott Moody. "The tasting will allow one to experience many different products in one setting and in one afternoon."

As an annual fundraiser for the Rome Area Council for the Arts, ticket sales to the festival are instrumental in pouring money into arts initiatives. In addition to its continued support of the Empty Bowls project and the Art Walk on Broad, RACA is planning several new major arts outreach programs this year for children, young adults, senior citizens and under-served members of the community, according to board chair Wright Ledbetter.

Festival food vendors will include Santa Fe Restaurant and Wow Cafe and Wingery. Live music will be provided by The Groundhawgs and Backswing, two local bands that are well-known across the region.

Attendees are encouraged to use one of the downtown parking decks and to enter the festival via the walking bridge between Bridgepoint Plaza and Heritage Park.

"Our goal is to offer a safe environment, a wonderful atmosphere and lots of fun for those attending. Last year, even with the rain, our attendance was in excess of 600," said Moody.

Tickets to the Rome Beer Festival are $25 if purchased in advance and $30 at the door. Designated driver tickets will be available for $10 at the gate. A picture ID is required to enter; no one under age 21 will be admitted.

Tickets are available online at www.forumevents.org through the Forum ticket office, or by calling 706-291-5281.
