Back to Back Wins for the Rome Braves

Rome Braves defeated the West Virginia Power 2-1 for the second straight game on Monday night in front of 1,853 fans. The Power was held score less until the ninth inning by Braves pitchers Steven Kent and Willie Kempf.

Rome took the 1-0 lead in the second inning when Christian Bethancourt led off with a double, stole second thing scored on an RBI single from Edward Salcedo. Neither team would score again until the eighth when the Braves added an insurance run for the 2-0 lead. Bobby Rauh doubled then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Chris Curley. Todd Cunningham grounded to second but an error by Elevys Gonzalez would allow Rauh to cross the plate.

The Power managed a run in the ninth to cut the lead to 2-1. Ramon Cabrera single d then advanced to second on a wild pitch by Willie Kempf. A groundout to second base would move Cabrera to third where he would later score on another wild pitch. Rome pitching would shut down the Power from there as the Braves held on for the 2-1 win.

Willie Kempf (3-2) picks up the win for the Braves while West Virginia's Quinton Miller (3-4) gets the loss.
